                                                                     $ 72,797.03
                                                               $ 74,659.55 with 6 months

A research attorney position is available for Fall 2026 in the chambers of Justice Caleb Stegall. 

Job Duties: Performs highly sensitive legal research and other professional legal services for the Kansas Supreme Court. Work includes the preparation of legal memoranda for justices of the Supreme Court on matters before them. Work is performed under general supervision of a justice or supervising attorney and is reviewed through conferences and written reports. Work involves highly confidential pending legal matters. Incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing justice. 

Examples of Work Performed: Reviews, studies, researches and annotates laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs, and related legal authorities to process petitions for review to the Supreme Court, appeals, original actions, and other litigated matters. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required education and experience:  Graduation from an accredited law school. Admission to the Kansas Bar or a temporary permit to practice law in Kansas.
