Consumer Protection Section ~ St. Louis
The Missouri Attorney General's Office is seeking attorneys with excellent credentials for an Assistant Attorney General - Unit Leader position in the Consumer Protection Section in St. Louis.
The Consumer Protection Section handles some of the Office's most complex and high-profile civil litigation and criminal prosecutions. Its attorneys prosecute white collar crime charging deceptive business practices as well as stealing, financial exploitation, securities fraud, and identity theft at the state level. Attorneys also bring civil enforcement actions under the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act and seek restraining orders, injunctions, and restitution to protect the health and safety of Missourians, penalize violators, and obtain relief for victims of fraud. The Section also conducts investigations at the state and multistate level, often in connection with other Attorney Generals' Offices and federal partners. The Section handles matters in the areas of privacy, non-profit and charity fraud, the No Call registry, and antitrust.
The Unit Leader will be responsible for handling their own caseload from inception to disposition while also managing a group of attorneys; assisting with complex investigations and litigation; and mentoring junior attorneys. The position will involve intermittent daytime or overnight travel within Missouri.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5 years' experience as a practicing attorney
- Jury trial experience
- Management or mentorship experience
- A knowledge of Missouri state court practice
- Experience prosecuting criminal cases or handling state court civil litigation, ideally on the plaintiff's side
- Exceptional educational and professional credentials
