Justice Resource Institute See More Job Openings by This Employer
JRI Health Law Institute (HLI) seeks a Managing Attorney to join their team! JRI Health provides an array of support services to help people living with and at risk for HIV/AIDS achieve the health and justice we all deserve. In keeping with this mission, the JRI Health Law Institute (HLI), a legal services program embedded within JRI’s Health Division, uses harm reduction principles to provide holistic, collaborative, trauma-informed civil legal services through a medical-legal partnership.
HLI strives to provide equitable access to our services by prioritizing marginalized communities that have been disproportionately impacted by longstanding, structural racism as well as those disproportionately impacted by HIV/AIDS. Our clients’ needs and wishes guide the work that we do. As advocates, we see our role as providing legal expertise, support, and helping to amplify our clients’ voices.
Schedule: This position is a hybrid work model (ability to work remotely ~75%) with work/life balance; flexible schedule.
Position Overview: HLI is launching its first-ever Immigration Unit, and we are seeking a mission-driven attorney to lead this exciting new initiative. The Managing Attorney will be responsible for designing and delivering immigration legal services from the ground up, helping to define the vision, structure and impact of the immigration work within our medical legal partnership.
This position offers a rare opportunity to build a trauma-informed, client-centered immigration practice embedded within the state’s only HIV legal services organization. This attorney will work closely with HLI leadership to develop systems, identify priority populations and set the foundation for a sustainable and responsive immigration legal services program. Ideal for a self-starter who is enthusiastic about a legal practice that bridges immigration justice and public health.
