Under general supervision assists attorneys in preparing legal documents, conducting research, and managing case files.

Assist attorneys in legal research and case preparation. Draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, and correspondence. Organize and maintain case files, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Prepare and file legal documents with courts and government agencies. Review discovery materials and assist in trial preparation. Communicate with clients, witnesses, law enforcement, and court personnel. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Provide administrative support to legal staff.
Prepare the appropriate letters, memos, deeds, contracts, agreements, and various pleadings on all active litigation cases. Preparation of various Complaints, Warrants, Garnishments, subpoenas, and summons. Draft agreements, contracts, etc. for conformity to County rules and regulations.
Schedule court hearings, depositions, conferences, etc., maintain all active litigation files, preparing and filing the necessary Motions, Orders and Briefs. Provide an itemized status list of all active litigation cases with Sheriff’s Department, County Government, and to the Auditors. File pleadings w/various Court Clerks. Maintain litigation files on all active litigation matters. Provide computerized litigation support such as deposition summary and abstract of documents. Preparation and readiness for trial, including settlement preparations.
Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, deeds, and trust instruments for the Attorney.
Direct and coordinate office responsibilities for other office personnel. Preparation and monitoring of office budget, recording, and tracking account expenditures. Prepare and assist in the formation of periodic reports. Ordering of all office supplies and office equipment.

Knowledge of legal terminology and the forms and documents used in legal secretarial work.
Knowledge of legal procedures and practices involved in composing, processing, and filing a variety of legal documents.
Knowledge of standard legal references and their contents.
Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.
Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and case management.
Skill in the use of a personal computer and related software.
Skill in English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Skill and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research software.
Skill in organization and multitasking.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion.- Minimum Qualifications
An associate’s degree and one (1) year of direct work experience in a law office is required. A valid driver’s license is also required.
OR
The equivalent of a high school diploma and three (3) years of direct work experience in a law office is required. A valid driver’s license is also required.
PEREFEERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Work experience in governmental setting is preferred.
An associate’s degree or certificate in paralegal studies is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires a minimum to moderate amount of physical effort with intermittent typing, sitting, standing, walking, and driving. This position may require the occasional or regular lifting and carrying of up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
