There are two open paralegal positions:
- The first will primarily serve the legal needs of military veterans and their families.
- The second will primarily serve the legal needs of immigrants, LGBTQ with a strong focus on transgender individuals, and other minorities who are victims of hate crimes.
Position Overview:
An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated and skilled Paralegal with legal experience and proficiency in Spanish to join our team at St John’s Community Health Legal Services Program. This grant-based position involves providing critical legal supports to our Spanish-speaking clientele in Los Angeles County and beyond. The successful candidate will contribute to outreach efforts and travel to deliver essential legal services.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Paralegal certification or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in Spanish (oral and written).
- Legal experience in diverse fields is preferred.
- Sensitivity to the cultural needs of the Spanish-speaking community.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Empathy and compassion for individuals facing legal challenges and a commitment to providing high-quality services.
- Proficiency in legal research, document preparation, and case management software is necessary.
- Knowledge of community resources and experience in community outreach is beneficial.
- Experience working in underserved communities such as undocumented workers, unaccompanied minors, LGBT populations, communities of color, youth/adolescents, and those experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, and/or mental illness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Legal Support:
- Assist attorneys in the preparation of legal documents.
- Conduct client interviews and gather necessary information for document drafting
- Client Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking clients, ensuring they understand relevant legal processes and documents.
- Provide compassionate and culturally sensitive assistance to address client concerns.
- Outreach and Education:
- Collaborate with the legal team to conduct outreach events and educational workshops in the community.
- Travel to various locations in Los Angeles County and beyond to engage with the community and promote diverse legal services.
- Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate and organized client files.
- Assist in administrative tasks related to various legal services programs.
- Other duties may be assigned, as required.
