Crunchbase is hiring a Commercial Counsel to serve as a key legal partner across Sales, Revenue, Product, Marketing, and Security. This role sits at the center of the company’s commercial engine, supporting high-volume, high-impact transactions while helping scale the legal frameworks that enable continued growth.
In this role, you will lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a broad range of commercial agreements, including SaaS, data licensing (DaaS), enterprise customer contracts, and strategic partnerships. You will work closely with revenue teams to structure deals, navigate complex negotiations, and clearly communicate legal and business trade-offs to internal stakeholders.
Beyond contracting, the role includes advising on data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance as they relate to product development, customer relationships, and marketing initiatives. You will partner cross-functionally to address evolving privacy frameworks and support responses to customer diligence processes.
A key dimension of the role is supporting the company’s approach to AI. You will advise on legal and regulatory considerations tied to AI-enabled products and internal use, including data rights, intellectual property, transparency, and risk allocation. This includes drafting AI-specific contractual provisions and contributing to internal governance frameworks that guide responsible adoption.
You will also contribute to scaling legal operations—refining templates, developing playbooks, improving contract lifecycle processes, and leveraging legal technology and AI tools to increase efficiency and consistency across the business.
The ideal candidate brings strong commercial contracting experience within a technology environment, with the ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and provide clear, pragmatic advice. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced setting, translating complex legal concepts into actionable guidance, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to drive outcomes.
