Job Description
This position is located in the Office of Budget and Financial Management and serves as a Financial Specialist providing financial management assistance on a wide variety of budget and fiscal processes, including budget development, execution and tracking, and assisting in maintaining financial management systems. This is a Competitive Service position; additional positions may be filled from this announcement within 90 days of certificate issuance.
Duties Duties include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for reviewing and analyzing budget planning estimates submitted by assigned components for technical accuracy and adequacy of supporting narrative justification, and conformance with DOJ budgetary policy and guidelines. Coordinates work with senior level analysts and component office staff on analysis of finance orders in relation to forecasting expenses and provides narrative explanation of the causes of variances between actual and budget objectives. Evaluates incoming accounting reports to interpret results of operations, to track financial trends and events, and to resolve fiduciary and/or financial management problems. Maintains control of resources, funds allocation, fund control, inter-and intra-agency reimbursable agreements and financial reports in a fiscally responsible manner. Reconciles a variety of automated accounting data to identify financial data discrepancies and corrective actions required. Salary- $70,623 - $111,087/year
