The Court Clerk provides administrative support for the Missoula Municipal Court.
Details: Applications must be submitted by Sunday July 20, 2025 at 11:59 PM MST. Screening for this position will begin on Monday July 21, 2025.
Starting wage range*: $20.12 - $22.11
Full wage range*: $20.12 - $23.44
*Cost of living increase dependent upon Council approval.- Essential Functions
- Provide case-related information to the Judges, departmental staff, the public and outside agencies, as needed.
- Perform data entry of statutes, ordinances, and sentencing information into proprietary software and web-based applications.
- Conduct complete and legally accurate records searches.
- Prepare temporary and permanent orders of protection.
- Ensure quality assurance of court documents, processes, and database updates.
- Process and record payments of fines and witness fees.
- Maintain accurate records of court proceedings, court appearances, schedules, outstanding warrants, summonses, subpoenas, etc.
- Assist with various administrative office duties, including phone calls, filing court documents, and maintaining office supplies and equipment.
- Provide support to the public, responding to court related inquires, including schedules and timing of court appearances.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices, including record keeping, maintaining schedules, document filing, data entry, etc.
- Skill in payment handling procedures for cash, credit cards and checks.
- Skill in multitasking in a fast-paced environment, while providing effective customer service.
- Skill in professionally and sensitively serving distressed citizens.
- Skill in utilizing various computer software and databases, including Microsoft 365, and the ability to learn job-specific applications and equipment.
- Skill in communicating, in person and writing, with the proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals.
- Ability to learn various job-specific standards and guidelines including court and criminal justice operations, case management, court related documents and proceedings, laws, codes, and regulations.
- Ability to resolve conflicts with facilitating outcomes while maintaining a calm demeanor.
- Ability to maintain and exhibit integrity and discretion in handling the confidential and sensitive criminal justice information.
- Ability to learn City and departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
- Qualifications and Additional Application Materials
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) years of administrative support experience or another relevant field.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
