
The Brattle Group, a privately held, global economics consulting firm, is looking for an Assistant General Counsel to join our San Francisco office. The Assistant General Counsel provides legal support to the Firm’s global expert witness and consulting business. The position’s primary focus is to negotiate and draft agreements with domestic and international third parties. The position also assists in providing legal advice regarding management objectives and policies. The Assistant General Counsel will report directly to the General Counsel.
Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:
- Prepare, review and negotiate a wide variety of client engagement agreements, licenses, and other legal commitments on behalf of the Firm and its foreign subsidiaries
- Research complex legal issues impacting client engagements (e.g. intellectual property rights; licensing; data security requirements; insurance; tax)
- Respond to litigation-related matters, including advising consultants on litigation requirements (e.g. confidentiality; discovery) and other compliance-related obligations (e.g. data security) in the context of global expert witness and consulting business
- Research complex legal issues that arise in general business obligations (e.g. CCPA and other data privacy laws)
- Identify and address legal risks in corporate practices and policies
- Support compliance with corporate formalities, corporate bylaws, relevant statutes, tax and insurance requirements in all jurisdictions in which the Firm does business
THE CANDIDATE
- J.D. degree; strong academic credentials; bar membership in good standing
- A minimum of four (4)+ years of general litigation or commercial contracts experience within a large international law firm
- Experience as in-house corporate counsel, preferably in professional services firm such as consulting, finance, law, accounting, etc. is desired
- Requires strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Must work well in fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks and demands
- Must be able to exercise appropriate judgment, discretion, and confidentiality as necessary
- Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Exhibit great discretion in order to perform highly confidential duties
- Evening/weekend work may be required
- Occasional travel
Brattle offers a competitive benefits package, base salary, and bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance. The anticipated base gross salary range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $225,000 - $245,000 annually. Actual salary will depend on a variety of factors, including experience and training.
