
Under the general direction and supervision of the Chief Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) and the Presiding ALJ, Appeals Division, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting informal and investigatory hearings, review Whistleblower Retaliation complaints, Requests to File Charges, serve as a Hearing Officer on appeals from applicants, review law and motion matters and make appropriate recommendations, perform legal research, and prepare and develop legal opinions as assigned.

Established by the State Constitution, the State Personnel Board (SPB) is charged with overseeing the merit-based, job- related recruitment and selection process for the hiring of state employees who provide critical services to the citizens of California.
