Job Description:
Old Republic Title is seeking a Legal Title Examiner who will be responsible for examining abstracts and/or title searches, communicating with agents, customers, and vendors, clearing title, and preparing commitments and updates. Must be capable of reviewing moderate to difficult documentation and preparing title products.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare title opinions for all commitments.
- Examine abstracts and/or title searches, identifying, and resolving title issues and determining insurability.
- Communicate with abstractors, examiners, attorneys, agents, and additional vendors as needed.
- Prepare commitments, updates, and additional customer products.
- Review documents and instruments for legal sufficiency in connection with specific transactions. Coordinate and assist in closing complex transactions as necessary.
- Ability to manage a pipeline and work queue as assigned.
- Consistently meet and exceed all production goals as set forth by management.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, employees and customers by email, phone and in person.
- Complies with Company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and completes mandatory company compliance training by prescribed deadlines.
- At a minimum, the ability to work your scheduled work hours, Monday through Friday.
- Ability to work overtime as requested by management.
- Dependable, reliable and punctual attendance is required, which may include in-office attendance or attendance at company, industry or other events that occur outside regular business hours.
- Ability to accept supervision and direction, as well as constructive feedback.
- Ability to collaborate and interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, employees and customers by email, phone, video conferences and in person.
- Demonstrates courtesy, flexibility, professionalism and is proactive and responsive to supervisor/manager, co-workers and customer needs and expectations.
- Other duties that may be assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Must have a law degree with courses taken in property law, probate and trust and family law. Must be admitted to the State Bar of Oklahoma.
- Practical knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations and procedures governing commercial real estate transactions
- Working knowledge of real estate law
- Comprehensive knowledge of land records and the ability to interpret data retrieved from various methods including title plants.
- Must have ability to review Probates, Divorce and Bankruptcy proceedings in addition to Tax and District Court Suits.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Proficient in property record related sites.
- Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment while successfully performing under extreme time constraints and meets prescribed deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to act independently with sound judgment and take initiative.
- Written and verbal communications are clear, grammatically correct and business appropriate.
- Actively listens and is mindful of the role body language, gestures and other nonverbal actions can play in communication.

- Excellent professional written, verbal, listening and communication skills.
- Must be a personable, positive, and professional representative of the company.
- Ability to foster, develop and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships. Must be able to get along with others, i.e., peers, employees, supervisors, outside customers, and vendors. Lead by positive example.
Physical/Mental Demands (if applicable):
- Required to sit for long periods of time (approximately 90 percent of time on the job).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines amid routine interruptions.
- The ability to work with confidential information.
- The ability to perform under pressure and be flexible with disruptions throughout the workday is required.
- Repetitive and continual keyboard activity and interaction with display monitors is required.
