Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law and litigation, with a focus on providing comprehensive support to attorneys in all phases of criminal defense cases.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, for criminal defense cases.
- Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to criminal matters.
- Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and law enforcement agencies to gather information and evidence for cases.
- Manage case files, including organizing documents, maintaining electronic records, and tracking deadlines.
- Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit preparation, and courtroom logistics.
- Draft correspondence, subpoenas, and other legal documents as needed.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on criminal defense.
- Proficiency in legal research tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work product.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual English and Spanish
