Job DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Gather information to respond to subpoenas and other legal and regulatory record requests.
- Review inquiries from regulatory agencies and assist counsels with preparing responses.
- Provide litigation support, ensure document retrieval and production is accurate and deadlines are met, and organize document discovery.
- Draft legal documents and correspondence; prepare corporate legal documents. Routes, follows-up and edits or updates documents as changes are identified.
- Asist counsel with maintenance of the Company’s intellectual property portfolio. Schedule meetings and coordinate related logistics as needed.
- Interact with outside counsel, vendors and internal business partners. Build and maintain successful working relationships.
- Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, and legal codes. Perform legal research as requested by counsel.
- Support attorneys with research of relevant facts, recent legislation, or case law related to Company issues to determine impact to the Company and make recommendations to counsel(s) for potential courses of action.
- Prepare affidavits of documents and maintain document files.
- Perform administrative tasks to support the Legal team, such as calendaring meetings, facilitating physical mailings, e-filing internal records, and proofreading documents.

Client Responsibilities
This is an internal client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written). One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- Associate’s degree and paralegal certificate (or equivalent combination of education and experience) along with at least 4 years’ related work experience.
- Notary Public certification or willingness to obtain required.
- Healthcare and/or pharmacy benefit management experience preferred.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have good working knowledge of: MS Office Suite, MS Outlook and internet research.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Paralegal Certificate from ABA approved school – with continuing education to maintain current certification. Notary Public certification or willingness to obtain required.

Work Location
This position must work on-site at the San Diego Headquarters for purposes of providing adequate support to internal clients; being available for face-to-face interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders. Periodic scheduled remote work may be permitted as allowed under the department’s policy and with management approval.
Working Hours
This is a full-time non-exempt position requiring one to be able to work overtime from time to time in order to get the job done. Therefore, one must have the ability to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. This may be changed at any time to meet the needs of the business. The typical working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Travel - This position requires no travel.
