This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Office of Judge Advocate General (CG-094), Office of Information and Intelligence Law.
Duties As an Attorney-Advisor (General), you will serve as the Senior Counsel to the Coast Guard Chief Data Officer (CDO) in the Office of Data and Analytics (OD&A) and is primarily responsible for providing legal services to the Coast Guard CDO, the OD&A, senior Coast Guard attorneys and program officials.

- This position requires exceptionally technical legal knowledge and knowledge of data and artificial intelligence.
- Providing legal advice/guidance on Data Governance and Strategy/FOIA/Dat Privacy/Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA)/SSI/CUI-SBU Information, and Data Ethics
- Coordinate with CG-LII attorneys, provides advice on areas of Law where the research direction is not clear-cut.
- Serve as the Lead attorney for providing Legal advice to the Coast Guard's Chief Data Officer (CDO)
- Advise on policy and statutory compliance requirements for data governance issues, and the protection and dissemination of information, both unclassified and classified.
- Coordinate with CG-LII attorneys on data governance issues related to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Privacy Act (PA), and the HIPAA.
- Prepares Legal Research, Reports, and Opinions
- $142,488 - $195,200/year

Minimum Requirements:
The minimum qualifications for hiring at each grade level (or equivalent) are as follows:

Examples of this experience includes: preparing bid protests reports, evaluation of contractor claims, equitable adjustments, protests, disputes, terminations, contract interpretation, contract modifications, fiscal considerations, contract types, and similar matters. Applicants at the GS-14 level should also demonstrate the ability to work independently with lower levels of supervision.
GS-15: Applicants at the GS-15 level must have at least four years of professional legal experience and a demonstrated expertise in federal contracting or procurement. Examples of this experience includes: preparing bid protests reports, evaluation of contractor claims, equitable adjustments, protests, disputes, terminations, contract interpretation, contract modifications, fiscal considerations, contract types, and similar matters. Applicants at the GS-15 level must also have a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum levels of supervision.

To qualify for the GS-15 level position, must: have successfully completed at least one full year of professional legal experience as a practicing attorney equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, as reflected in the nature and complexity of case work and legal issues for which responsible, the level of responsibility exercised, and the degree to which such experience equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position.
