Job Short Description

The Legal Assistant will provide legal secretarial and administrative support to assigned attorneys within the Office of General Counsel. The role involves preparing and filing legal documents, maintaining attorney case files and calendars, coordinating court-related activities, and assisting attorneys with day-to-day legal administrative requirements.

Job Complete Description:

The ideal candidate should have 3–5 years of experience as a paralegal or legal secretary, familiarity with the Florida court system, strong Microsoft Office skills, and the ability to support multiple attorneys in a professional legal environment.

Pay Rate $15.00/hr
Working Hours: Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.


Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide legal secretarial and administrative support to assigned attorneys.
  • Format, type, finalize, and file legal documents and correspondence.
  • Prepare letters and legal documents using drafts and templates.
  • File pleadings, motions, and other documents with appropriate courts or tribunals.
  • Serve or coordinate the service of legal documents.
  • Maintain and organize attorney case files.
  • Prepare subpoenas and discovery requests as directed by attorneys.
  • Schedule hearings, trials, and depositions and coordinate required facilities.
  • Arrange court reporters and obtain transcripts when required.
  • Manage attorney calendars and coordinate appointments and case-related schedules.
  • Handle telephone calls, correspondence, and other general secretarial activities.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for attorneys when required.
  • Close completed case files and provide general office-management support
Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience working as a paralegal or legal secretary.
  • 3 years of experience preparing legal documents and subpoenas.
  • 3 years of experience preparing discovery requests and coordinating hearings, trials, and depositions.
  • 3 years of experience formatting, finalizing, typing, and filing legal documents.
  • 3 years of experience preparing correspondence and legal documents from drafts.
  • 3 years of experience filing pleadings and motions with appropriate tribunals.
  • 2 years of experience managing executive or attorney daily calendars.
  • 1 year of experience handling travel arrangements.
  • Experience working with the Florida Courts system is highly desired.

Eligibility & Qualifications​​​​​​​
  • Must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to speak and understand English.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant paralegal or legal secretary experience, with the preferred range being 3–5 years.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Florida court system is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work with multiple attorneys and manage legal administrative responsibilities in an organized manner.
