If selected, you will be responsible for providing legal advice regarding the Commission's internal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program to subordinate staff and EEOC top management.
Duties- Serves as Director of the Investigations and Compliance Division, with direct responsibility for the division's functioning and staff.
- Ensures accomplishment of the division's mission by providing direction, coordination, and guidance to staff.
- Provides expert legal and technical advice to the OCR Director to ensure that internal EEO Program policies and goals are consistent with legal and statutory requirements, current case law, and EEOC policies and procedures
- Reviews Reports of Investigation (ROIs), Final Agency Decisions (FADs), and Final Orders (FOs) on the most complex cases to ensure legal sufficiency
- Assesses the legal implications of the office's actions and decisions.
- Applies broad knowledge of EEO laws, rules, regulations, and policies, and of alternative dispute resolution methods and the legal processes through which disputes of a legal or factual nature are resolved.

- Merit Systems Protection Board appeals of adverse actions concerning performance, discipline, and other matters arising under chapters 23, 43, and 75 of title 5, United States Code will not be available to an individual serving in this position
- Prohibitions on prohibited personnel practices will be enforced by the Office of General Counsel (or agency equivalent position) and not the Office of Special Counsel.

For the GS-15:You must have earned a professional law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member of the BAR, and have four years of professional legal experience with at least one year being equivalent to the GS-14 level.
Professional legal education above the first professional law degree may be substituted for experience required as follows:(a) The second professional law degree (LL.M) may be substituted for one year of experience (b) The third law degree (J.S.D) may be substituted for one year of experience beyond the LL.M.
Attorneys appointed in the excepted service are required to maintain active membership in a bar within U.S. jurisdiction for the duration of their employment. Attorneys must provide documentation supporting active membership and good standing status (or equivalent) on at least an annual basis.

This is a Schedule Policy/Career position. Schedule Policy/Career is an excepted service schedule for career positions that are of a confidential, policy-determining, policy-making, or policy-advocating character (policy-influencing positions) as defined by Executive Order 13957, as amended, and 5 C.F.R. § 213.3601. - Most recent Performance Appraisal, if applicable.
- Current or Former Federal Employees (if applicable) - please provide a copy of your last or most recent SF-50, "Notification of Personnel Action" which preferably shows your current title, series and grade (do not submit an Award SF-50). If your current grade is not your highest permanent grade held, submit a copy of an additional SF-50 showing your highest grade held.
- Veterans' Preference documentation, if applicable (e.g. DD-214 Member Copy 4 showing type of discharge/character of service; Current Active Duty members must submit a certification of expected discharge or release from active duty under honorable conditions dated within 120 days; SF-15 Form and related documentation; VA letter.)
