Job Description

Job Description

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish.

The Mayor’s Office is recruiting for an Executive Director to facilitate Pro Bono Legal Assistance to serve as a centralized resource repository to connect New Yorkers who are facing poverty or other socioeconomic challenges, or violations of their constitutional or civil rights, with existing legal and support services they can access, as needed, for pro bono representation. Rather than directly providing legal representation. The Executive Director will lead a unit that will serve as an information hub that streamlines access to pro bono attorneys in the private sector, law school clinics, non-for-profit legal services organizations, and government programs and agencies. Given the vast array of services available throughout The City of New York, this initiative seeks to facilitate accessibility, visibility, and coordination and serve as a resource to match New Yorkers unable to afford counsel with pro bono legal services available to handle the types of cases in which they need legal representation.
