Job Description

Description

Under occasional supervision, performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties to ensure effective and efficient assistance to the daily activities of the Family Court.  Reports to the Deputy Clerk.


Examples of Duties

Responsible for receiving, recording, and processing child support payment.


Prepares, balances, and makes daily deposits to the bank.


Provides assistance to the general public both in person and over the phone by answering questions and providing information.


Perform various clerical duties such as answering phones, providing information, transferring calls, and taking messages, filing, copying, processing incoming and outgoing mail, and performing computer data entry.


Prepares various legal documentation to include orders of revocation, orders in the courtroom, motions for bench warrants, wage withholdings


Prepares and forwards letters to the NCP.


Is responsible for filing paperwork for attorneys and the general public involving new actions and pending cases.


Pulls files for court 


Writes orders for support cases Certifies all orders before forwarding to appropriate destination.


Receives and processes child support payments.


Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits a variety of documents such as child support payments, rule to show cause, wage withholdings, delinquent letters, support orders, divorce papers, time sheets, cash receipt reports, etc.


Operates a variety of equipment, which may include a computer, printer, typewriter, copier, fax machine, telephone, check signer, calculator, etc.


Interacts and communicates with departmental supervisors and employees, County department 

heads and employees, attorneys, judges, Clerk of Court, legal secretaries, law enforcement, magistrates office, department of juvenile justice, etc.  

Typical Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with vocational or technical school training supplemented by one year of administrative and legal clerk experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
