THE ORGANIZATION
Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) is a non-profit agency under contract to the State of California and for 50 years has provided the coordination of services to individuals with developmental disabilities. ACRC employs approximately 700+ individuals working out of eight offices in a ten-county area. ACRC is one of 21 Regional Centers in California.
COMPENSATION
The below is dependent upon experience and education.

The actual amount offered within this range will depend on a variety of factors including skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant job-related factors. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
THE POSITION AND JOB SUMMARY
ACRC is seeking a Legal Services Specialist at their Sacramento office location (please note our Sacramento office location will be moving to Natomas in March 2025). This position will primarily be responsible for supporting DDS-conserved clients (for whom DDS delegates the day-to-day conservatorship authority to ACRC), by performing all of the day-to-day conservatorship duties, including meeting with the client during all Individualized Program Plan (IPP) meetings and any other meetings, to consider if there are services and/or natural supports available that will assist the client in becoming more independent, or exploring alternatives to conservatorship; advocating on the client’s behalf to secure or fund appropriate services and supports for the client; working to help maximize the client’s autonomy and to support the client in making their own decisions whenever possible; completing Department of Developmental Services (DDS) monthly reporting to report any changes which impact the client’s health, safety or well-being, and changes to their services or service needs; providing ongoing consultation to clients and their circle of support; maintaining compliance with the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act, and other relevant Federal/State/local laws and regulations; providing other support to ACRC’s Legal Services Manager during absences; completing special projects; and other duties as assigned.

Applicants for this position must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of recent, full-time experience related to individuals with developmental disabilities, including three years of experience in a position related to rights assurance, legal or regulatory compliance, or a related field. The applicant must also have: the ability to locate, interpret, and apply relevant statutes, regulations, policies and procedures; familiarity with statutes and regulations relating to individuals with developmental disabilities; excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail; exceptional verbal and writing skills; superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize competing demands and tasks to meet strict deadlines; ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; strong interpersonal skills; and demonstrated professionalism. Paralegal certificate or registration is preferred. Must have a valid California Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance. Other requirements and qualifications may apply.
