Job Description

Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Legal Support Specialist in the Private Wealth Services department of our San Diego office. We offer competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.

Position Summary:

The Private Wealth/Trusts & Estates Legal Support Specialist will assist paralegals and attorneys in estate administrations. Must perform in an organized, efficient manner, and be willing to support the department with general administrative duties and special projects as needed. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists with attorney work involved with tax and estate planning and post-mortem trust and estate administration

  • Opening matters, fielding incoming and potential clients, and liaise between client and attorney

  • Assists paralegal with marshaling and obtaining values of estate assets, with probate filings and the preparation of federal estate and gift tax returns

  • Assists paralegal and attorney with the preparation of Wills, Trusts and other estate planning forms, as well as, preparing and organizing real property deeds and related documents, and preparing filings related to probate administration

  • Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Conducts meetings with clients to execute and notarize estate planning documents, preparation of same for vault storage, and preparation of funding memo and estate planning binders

  • Completes administrative duties, including but not limited to submitting expense and invoice requests, arranging meetings with clients, finalizing estate planning documents for execution, and maintaining and updating client status

Skills & Competencies:

  • A team player with a positive attitude and able to maintain a consistently high standard of service

  • A self-starter who can work well under minimal supervision as well as take a proactive approach to his or her work and be team oriented

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong client service skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure

  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines

Qualifications & Prior Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Notary license required

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a law firm

  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook * Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly

The expected pay range for this position is: $33.62 - $45.64/hour

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.  Additional voluntary programs include:  voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long term care, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance.  Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
