This is a merit-hire position. The starting pay rate for this position is $17.02. This position is covered by a Collective bargaining Agreement. Dauphin County Children & Youth Services is currently accepting applications for the Clerk Typist 3 position. The CYS Clerk Typist 3 (Legal) performs complex clerical work which requires the utilization of organization and word processing skills, and the application of independent judgment. Work involves skilled typing of a variety of letters, reports and documents for the Legal Department. Work includes responsibility for maintaining numerous spreadsheet logs to monitor related activities; creating and maintaining individual files for children at the direction of the Agency Solicitor; developing and organizing paperwork filing system as directed; and completing general clerical duties for the department. The incumbent reports directly to the Agency Staff Attorney, but assists the entire legal department as requested, specifically paralegals and as backups for other legal secretaries. Work normally involves making independent decisions concerning the process to be followed, the appropriateness of the information to be processed, and the actions to be taken.

Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:

 

  • Six months as a Clerk Typist 2, and a High School Diploma or equivalent. 

 

  • Or one year of progressively complex clerical typing experience and a High School Diploma or equivalent. 

 

  • Or six months of moderately complex clerical typing work and completion of a post high school business curriculum and a High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

Other Requirements:

At the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required. The applicant must provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire. An alternative form of identification will be accepted if you are not eligible to receive a Pennsylvania driver’s license under 67 PA. Code § 83 and driving is not an essential function of the position.
