What You’ll Do
- Legal Compliance Oversight: Interpret and apply federal and state mortgage banking and consumer finance laws and regulations governing non-depository financial institutions. Address a diverse range of legal and regulatory requirements.
- Business Unit Support: Advise and assist business units on the technical and practical aspects of relevant legal and compliance obligations.
- Fraud Management: Conduct fraud investigations; facilitate effective communication with clients, investors, regulators, and other external stakeholders.
- Policy Development: Collaborate in creating compliant policies, procedures, guidelines, disclosures, and training materials tailored to regulatory standards.
- Research and Documentation: Perform legal research and draft formal and informal correspondence. Engage directly with line of business and executive leaders as needed.
- Operational Analysis: Review and analyze company operations and documentation to ensure adherence to laws and regulations governing the mortgage servicing industry.
- To facilitate the business objectives of the Division(s) supported and Company by providing timely and effective legal support to as well as minimizing potential legal exposure and risk.
- Responsible for providing and rendering practical, timely, and high-quality legal counsel and guidance to the Company division(s) and department(s) to which you are assigned, working closely with the independent Corporate Compliance Department to ensure compliance throughout the organization with regard to applicable laws and regulations.
- Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of federal and state laws pertaining to mortgage banking and consumer finance products and services, with an emphasis on mortgage servicing.
- Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other duties as assigned to support the organization’s goals and compliance initiatives.

- Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. May act in advisory capacity, making recommendations which have a major bearing on the conduct of the organization’s business.
Supervision Received or Extended
- Works independently setting own priorities and objectives with supervisory consultation. Work reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall accuracy.
- Responsibility for supervision of paraprofessional and other support staff.
What you’ll Bring
- Law Degree Required.
- Admitted to practice in state of employment.
- Typically has 4-7 years professional experience in are of specialization.
- Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization.
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulations.
- Well-developed legal research, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to manage workload and balance competing priorities.
- Ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates, and external company contacts.

Salary Range: $114,625 – $191,025 Salary
This hiring range is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the salary range of possible compensation at the time of the posting and is subject to change.
