The Compliance Paralegal supports the Legal and Compliance department by administering key compliance processes; responding to regulatory and customer inquiries; evaluating and assessing compliance risks and issues; handling records management and legal requests. This role helps ensure organizational compliance with internal policies, legal requirements, and operational standards through monitoring, analysis, reporting, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
The Compliance Paralegal also assists with policy implementation, training support, and process improvement initiatives within the compliance program.
What You'll Do:
- Monitor and respond to incoming domestic and international third-party due diligence requests and provide supporting analysis, risk documentation and reports to internal stakeholders.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring of active third-party profiles through media monitoring tools to identify potential compliance risks.
- Review quarterly compliance audit reports conducted by external auditors for Car Sales operations, track and follow up on corrective actions and ensure issues are properly addressed and documented by operational teams.
- Manage all communication related to record access, storage, retention, and destruction.
- Coordinate user access and service requests for records management and support records inventory reviews in accordance with the corporate retention schedule.
- Assist with the rollout of records management training and awareness initiatives.
- Process subpoenas and legal requests by retrieving records, conducting document reviews, and coordinating responses.
- Escalate complex or sensitive requests (e.g., government or grand jury subpoenas) to Legal leadership.
- Handle preliminary investigation of compliance issues, including contacting internal stakeholders and reviewing and analyzing documents for substantive response;
- Maintain documentation of subpoena activity and assist with periodic reporting on associated fees and costs.
- Conduct periodic legal hold checks based on employee termination reports and notifications from Human Resources.
- Generate reports and provide supporting information for litigation and internal reporting needs.
- Provide support for departmental administrative tasks including document notarization, subpoena logging, shipping coordination, and document formatting or redaction.
- Assist with internal compliance projects, policy updates, training materials, and process documentation.
- Support other compliance-related initiatives and ad hoc projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate
- 2-4 years of experience in compliance, legal operations, risk management, or related functions.
- Strong analytical, organizational, time management and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate cross functionally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Experience with records management, legal request processing, or regulatory compliance programs preferred.
The annual starting salary for this position is between $40.00 - $45.00 per hour. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
