Duties
You will serve as a Merchant Mariner Application Professional Qualification Evaluator and be responsible for providing technical expertise, guidance, and customer support to the, Professional Qualification Evaluation (PQE) Branch. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Reviews Merchant Mariner applications for issuance of requested Merchant Mariner credentials Provides written and oral accurate, and precise replies to agencies, maritime academies, maritime schools, other professional maritime organizations, applicants, and the public on technical knowledge processes, production and other aspects of credentialing Determines the applicability and reasonableness of legal guidelines against individual mariner history in accordance with federal regulations and other applicable resources Responsible for quality assurance and ensures work performed IAW applicable Coast Guard Quality Management System and guidance Determines eligibility of qualified endorsements Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.
