Overview: Horizon Farm Credit is actively recruiting for a Legal Operations Coordinator to join our team. The qualified candidate may work in any available branch location. In this position, you will direct the execution, coordination, and maintenance of the Legal Department's operations function. You will collaborate with the General Counsel in managing the department's legal workflow, the legal expenses of the Association, outside counsel engagements and relationships, operation and maintenance of the Legal Department’s Enterprise Legal Management system, and facilitating cross-functional alignment with other Association departments.
Areas of Responsibility Include:
Legal Workflow and Records Management
- Direct the intake, triage, and assignment of incoming legal matters.
- Maintain the ELM Internal Business Portal.
- Ensure matter record completion and file closeout.
- In collaboration with the General Counsel, design and implement a legal knowledge management program and a contract lifecycle management program.
Legal Financial Management
- Assist with the preparation and management of the legal department budget.
- Track fees and expenses of active legal matters.
- Analyze spending trends, potential cost savings, and efficiency opportunities for legal expenses across the Association.
- Recommends and implements solutions to reduce global legal spend to drive efficiency and lower costs.
Legal Technology Management
- Manage the Enterprise Legal Management system (LawVu).
- Oversee the Onboarding and Offboarding of Users from the ELM, Business Portal, and Law Firm Portal.
- Submit requests for updates and customizations from vendors as requested.
- Directs the management of the Enterprise Policy & Procedure system (PolicyStat).
Advancement of Legal Function Maturity Initiatives
- Assist in designing initiatives to increase the operational maturity of the legal function.
- Direct the implementation of approved legal maturity initiatives.
- Assist in analyzing the business needs to align the Legal Department's strategic plan.
- Assist in the identification and planning of scalable future initiatives to advance the Legal Department’s maturity and delivery of legal services to the Association.
Outside Counsel Management
- Directs a legal vendor management program.
- Negotiates fee agreements, including alternative fee arrangements, with outside counsel.
- Directs governance of billing arrangements and supervises adherence to billing guidelines, seeking approval for variations when necessary.
- Performs periodic evaluations of outside counsel vendors and makes recommendations to the General Counsel.
Personal and Organizational Development
- Completes all Association Assigned Training.
- Engages in specialized training relevant to the ELM system (LawVu) and the field of Legal Operations.
Education
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience
- Generally, 5 years of experience in a business environment. Experience in a corporate legal department is preferred. Prior Legal Operations experience is a plus.

Salary Range: $53,900 - $66,300, depending on previous experience
