The Boulder County Attorney’s Office is hiring an Assistant County Attorney II.
Attorneys in the County Attorney’s Office work on complicated and often cutting-edge legal issues for a progressive local government. We strongly encourage candidates from historically underrepresented backgrounds to apply.The Assistant County Attorney II will primarily work in the following three legal practice areas:
- Employment law. Providing ongoing legal advice to Human Resources and addressing issues related to employee discipline (and any appeals to discipline decisions).
- Property tax appeals. Advising the County Assessor and the Board of Equalization as well as handling hearings at the Board of Assessment Appeals, arbitrations, and occasional litigation in district court
- Zoning enforcement. Providing ongoing advice to the zoning enforcement team, drafting of letters and complaints, and litigating cases in County or District Court.
In addition to the areas of law listed above, for interested applicants we have a unique opportunity to also be involved with the County’s equity legal work, which includes evaluating programs and projects for compliance with federal and state law and helping clients meet the County’s equity goals.
SALARYHiring Salary Range: $112,308 - $137,004 Classification Salary Range: $112,308 - $161,700

- Employment law (including drafting and reviewing employee reprimands and terminations)
- Labor law or labor relations
- Zoning enforcement or zoning and planning law
- Litigation
- Colorado local government law
- Advising elected officials, elected boards, or appointed boards
POSITION DETAILS
This is a full-time and benefited position. The work schedule is Monday - Friday and work hours are determined by need but generally fall between 7:30am - 5:30pm. The office location is in theDowntown Courthouse, located at 1325 Pearl St., Boulder, CO 80302. This is currently a hybrid position with the option of working from home up to three days per week. This position will be required to attend in-person meetings at other Boulder County locations as necessary. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is exempt (not eligible for overtime).
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
LLB or JD degree and licensed to practice law in Colorado.
A minimum of two years’ experience as a practicing attorney. Prior law clerk experience or additional related education may count toward minimum experience requirements.
