Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the administrative functions in support of the Agency's Legal Department.
  • Conducts research on relevant law, regulations, and articles.
  • Conducts initial assessment of all cases, contracts, agreements, and legal inquires.
  • Conducts confidential investigations; gathers and arranges evidence and other legal documents for the General Counsel's review and case preparation.
  • Prepares, organizes, and maintains specialized records and reports in a paper or electronic filing system.
  • Drafts correspondence and legal documents, such as contracts and FOIA requests.
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

• High School diploma and four years experience working in a legal department or law firm.
• An Associate's Degree or Certificate in Paralegal Studies may be substituted for 2 years of experience; or a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies may be substituted for 4 years of experience.
• Well-versed in legal terminology, federal and state rules and regulations surrounding contracts, worker's compensation, risk assessment/management, and FOIA requests.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
• Self-starter with effective time-management skills.
  
Additional Position Requirements
• This position is primarily based in an office setting.
• The applicant should be able to sit, stand, use office equipment, and be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Travel within state may be necessary at times.

Official transcripts will be required to verify college degree.

If invited to interview, please obtain your Official 10 year driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles to bring with you.

Preferred Qualifications

Paralegal Certificate and experience working in a legal department or law firm.
