What Success Looks Like In This Job

The District Attorney’s Office seeks a Diversion Project Coordinator to serve juvenile and adult clients in our Diversion Program. The Diversion Unit is part of the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (Adams & Broomfield Counties) and operates as an alternative to formal felony and misdemeanor case filing.  The Diversion Systems and Project Coordinator supports the Director of Diversion in providing oversight and delivery of services to clients in the District Attorney's Office. This position is also responsible for overseeing District Attorney’s office Restorative Justice initiatives and programs, Restitution, and Grant related duties.  

Examples of Duties for Success

General Duties & Skills:

  • Assists the Director in the strategic implementation of goals and objectives of the Diversion Unit
  • Represents the District Attorney and the District Attorney’s Office with professionalism and integrity in dealing with victims and Diversion clients
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to seeking justice, preserving community safety, and making the criminal justice system better.
  • Demonstrates leadership in the Diversion office and with community members.   
  • Confers with the Director of Diversion regarding the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs, policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Attends workshops, classes, lectures, etc., as appropriate to enhance and maintain knowledge of best practices. 
  • Provides administrative support for tasks performed by client managers and administrative assistants. 
  • Skill in exercising initiative, judgement, creativity and decisiveness to facilitator problem solving and the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives. 
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain an objective opinion during conflict. 

Grants-Related Duties:
  • Assists with grant management, including compliance monitoring and data collection.
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports 
  • Seeks out new grant opportunities and presents them to the Diversion Director for discussion and consideration 
  • Works with Diversion Director to establish procedures to collect and evaluate information, analyze data, and identify trends. Provides input regarding programs to assist Diversion Director in decision-making for new grants and grant applications.

Restorative Justice Duties and Skills:
  • Establishes and implements restorative justice programs and practices for the Diversion Unit of the District Attorney’s Office
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for and knowledge and adherence to Restorative Justice practices.
  • Ability to establish community representatives for Restorative Justice circles.
  • Ability to collaborate with Victim Advocates, District Attorney Office employees, victims, community members, and the Diversion Director.
  • Ability to demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality with information gained through the Restorative Justice Process. 
  • Skill at showing empathy and understanding during Restorative Justice circles.
  • Ability to manage Restorative Justice data for grant reporting purposes. 
  • Attend Restorative Justice trainings to stay up to date with best practices.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients, families, and victims of crime. 
  • Demonstrates commitment to Restorative Justice best practices. 
  • Willingness to develop and implement Restorative Justice initiatives that build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including public, non-profits, and local communities.

Restitution Duties and Skills:
  • Reviews case files to confirm proper case entry and classification of victims to ensure correct dissemination of Restitution Statements and Victim Impact Statements.
  • Analyzes and acts upon the return of Restitution statements and Victim Impact Statements.
  • Assists with collecting restitution payments in partnership with client managers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, client managers, collateral agencies and victims.
  • Assembles and assesses complex data to compile financial figure based on verification of crime-related losses.
  • Prepares documentation for collection of restitution. 
  • Documents case work status and statistics in the electronic database.
  • Attends and participates in training opportunities related to the Diversion Program, Restitution, and Victim Advocates.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues in the Diversion Program, Restitution, Victim Advocates and all District Attorney Office employees. 

Qualifications for Success

Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, human services, public administration, or related field or;

Equivalent experience that includes 3-5 years of related work experience providing direct services to victims of crime. Additional consideration will be given for Restorative Justice trainings and Restorative Justice volunteer work.

Must have a valid Colorado Driver's License.

Travel throughout Adams and Broomfield counties may be required.

Ability to work evening hours may also be required.

MORE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
Grants management and grant writing experience

HIGHLY DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
The ability to speak, read and write Spanish with proficiency.
