Lead pre -litigation investigations, manage customer dispute resolution, and support complex litigation for a growing financial technology organization.

A leading fintech company is seeking a Senior Paralegal<\/b> with extensive in -house experience to manage customer disputes, regulatory complaints, and pre -litigation matters. This position plays a vital role in supporting the legal team’s efforts to resolve issues efficiently while protecting the company’s interests.

This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA<\/b>, requiring local candidates only.

Position Overview<\/b>

The Senior Paralegal will serve as the primary point of contact for managing customer disputes and regulatory matters, overseeing investigations, and assisting with all stages of litigation. This hands -on role is ideal for a self -starter who thrives in a fast -paced environment and enjoys working cross -functionally with legal, compliance, and operations teams to drive resolution and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities<\/b>

  • Dispute & Case Management:<\/b> Handle customer disputes, pre -litigation matters, and regulatory complaints from intake to resolution.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Investigations:<\/b> Lead internal investigations by gathering records, organizing facts, and building clear case timelines.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Legal Drafting:<\/b> Prepare responses to complaints, legal holds, discovery objections, continuance requests, and settlement agreements.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Litigation Support:<\/b> Collaborate with litigation counsel to assist with pleadings, motions, discovery, case management, and resolution.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Document Management:<\/b> Maintain accurate and up -to -date case files, tracking deadlines and producing regular reports and metrics.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Process Improvement:<\/b> Create playbooks, templates, and procedures to streamline dispute resolution workflows.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Legal Research:<\/b> Conduct research on non -complex legal issues and provide practical recommendations for action.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Subpoenas & Garnishments:<\/b> Respond to subpoenas, liens, and other discovery requests to support the broader legal team.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Cross -Functional Collaboration:<\/b> Partner with internal stakeholders including customer service, payments, and risk teams to ensure timely and accurate case handling.

    Required Qualifications<\/b>
    <\/p>

    • 8+ years<\/b> of combined experience in customer dispute resolution and litigation<\/b>, with a focus on pre -litigation case management.<\/b>
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Proven in -house legal experience<\/b> supporting business operations or compliance.
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Strong background in managing investigations, evidence collection, and fact organization.
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Experience working directly with external counsel on litigation and discovery matters.
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification<\/b> (or equivalent professional experience).
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite<\/b> (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace<\/b> (Drive, Docs, Sheets).
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Familiarity with eDiscovery tools, billing systems, and invoice management platforms.<\/b>
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
      <\/p><\/li><\/ul>

      • Experience in financial services, payments, or fintech<\/b> environments.
        <\/p><\/li>

      • Knowledge of regulatory complaint processes<\/b> and government reporting requirements.
