Sacred Groves Facilitator and Lived Expert
Work Schedule: 16 hours per month
Non/Exempt: $100.00/hourly

SHIELDS’ mission is to develop, deliver and evaluate culturally sensitive, comprehensive service models that empower and advocate for high-risk families in South Los Angeles.
Primary Duties:
- Work with Project Leads (Casey/SHIELDS) to implement Sacred Groves Collaboration Projects under the Casey Family Program (CFP) agreement.
- Participate in regular meetings with CFP Lead to ensure ongoing project planning and management.
- Support recruitment and training of a minimum of 10 Peer Ambassadors.
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly meetings with Peer Ambassadors
- Facilitate place-based workshops, roundtables, learning circles and peer-led sessions that build the skills and knowledge of community participants and Ambassadors.
- Provide Peer Ambassadors and community participants with resources and information as part of engagement and skill-building activities.
- Conduct community-based research with clients/parents to co-develop tools to promote strong families and child safety.
- Support the development of a Community Pathway tool in collaboration with Peer Ambassadors and community participants to assist with Community Pathway development and help families understand and access available services and resources.

To perform effectively in this position, the employee in this position is required to have:
- Basic advocacy and prevention skills.
- Lived experience in the Child Welfare, Probation or Parole systems
- Ability to present information in a clear concise manner at community meetings
- Present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Efficiently use the personal computer to include a variety or word processing software.
- Utilize analysis, lived experience, and judgment to make decisions.
- Demonstrate commitment to team objectives and SHIELDS For Families philosophies.
- Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
- Provides services within a culturally sensitive, ethnic informed model of practice and is respectful to the community and clients.
- Experience working with an under-served population is preferred. Have access to reliable transportation.
- This position will require the employee to attend in person community events and meetings in the South Los Angeles communities.
- This job is required to have a High School diploma or equivalent, and the ability to work with high-risk families/children, in the South Los Angeles Community
