Position: Legal Program Manager
Supervisor: Managing Attorney

At The Door, youth can access health care and education, mental health counseling and crisis assistance, legal assistance, college preparation services, career development, housing supports, arts, sports and recreational activities, and nutritious meals – all for free and under one roof. By providing participants with our suite of integrated services, we seek to provide any motivated young person with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to successfully transition to adulthood.
The Door’s Legal Services Center advances the rights of youth by providing direct legal services in areas such as immigration, public benefits, family law, and housing. Situated within the larger Door community, the Center addresses legal problems in a holistic and client-driven manner. The Program Manager will focus on the Center’s immigration practice and will work on the Acacia-Unaccompanied Child Program Team. The Door seeks a Program Manager to support the Managing attorney and Co-Directors in managing a federal contract.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee implementation of contract deliverables,
- Improve and implement systems to ensure delivery of services such as Know Your Rights presentations, legal screenings and referrals,
- Develop and implement trainings to educate staff on contract deliverables,
- Supervise and professionally develop administrative assistant, junior and lead paralegals,
- Engage in administrative tasks as requested by funder,
- Assist in submission of monthly invoices including collecting and consolidating receipts, engage in communication with funder’s finance team, and assist with consolidation of company credit card,
- Support project leadership in monitoring cases and The Door’s progress in achieving performance goals under the contract to meet Office of Refugee resettlement requirements and satisfying requests of funders,
- Maintain knowledge about relevant laws, policies and procedures related to the contract’s scope of work,
- Engage in meetings with shelter leadership and funder,
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Managing Attorney and/or Co-Director
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of immigration paralegal experience,
- Interest in a comprehensive approach to meeting the needs of young people
- Creative thinker with superior communication skills
- Excellent program management skills, organizational skills, time management and record keeping skills, including the ability to work independently, assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and to effectively interact with young people, management, and program staff
- Supervisory experience required
- Knowledge of and ability to apply positive youth development principles to working with young people
- Professional proficiency in Spanish or French is preferred
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: $70,000 - $75,000
