About the Role:
Legal Assistants perform various entry-level legal and administrative support duties of limited complexity with established guidelines and procedures within the justice system. You will be responsible for assisting paralegals, handling case files, and entering case information into our database system. You will represent the firm by providing assistance to our legal team. You will also be provided the opportunity to grow within the firm through our Paralegal-In-Training Program (PITs). This is a fulltime position. Maintain a work schedule of 8 hours per day Monday through Friday between 7 am and 6 pm. The position may require extended work hours at times depending on scope of work.
What You’ll Do
- Creating initial drafts of demand packages for paralegals, including summarizing medical treatment and redacting sensitive information.
- Completing Early Policy Limits Demands, Medpay Demands, UIM/UM Demands, and MMI demands within the time limit specified above.
- Enter and retrieve case information from various databases, including County Recorder sites, government insurance portals, and others.
- Perform criminal history/criminal records checks and bureau specific data entry.
- Prepare outgoing mail by printing and scanning documents, as well as creating CDs or USBs to send additional information.
- Assist Paralegals with trial preparation.
- Communicate with Paralegals to prioritize items and provide status of tasks to be completed.
- Legal assistants may be expected to perform additional responsibilities outside of the ones indicated above as needed.
