Job Title

What does a successful Counsel, Merchant Solutions do at Fiserv? Our Merchant Solutions team is looking to add a new financial services lawyer. As an attorney within this group, you will focus on drafting and negotiating agreements with strategic partners and resellers, merchant clients, and software partners. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner with other internal groups to bring to market new, cutting-edge payments solutions as well as provide ongoing legal support for existing products. This role will provide advice on laws and rules that impact the transaction processing businesses and partner with other team members to provide guidance on other regulations, including those relating to data privacy, security, and use. Additionally, you will provide prompt guidance and support to senior business and sales executives.

What you will do:

• Work directly with business unit representatives to draft and negotiate partner, client, and technology-related commercial agreements.
• Advise business partners on legal, contractual, and risk matters impacting their business unit or product set.
• Partner with product teams to commercialize new products and functionality.
• Provide consultation and legal advice with respect to strategic initiatives, technology projects, customer contracts, dispute resolution, regulatory matters, corporate policies and procedures, and administration.
• Interact with corporate specialists regarding finance, audit, tax, IT, publicity/press, regulatory, privacy, and technology matters that affect the business divisions.
• Develop and maintain forms of contracts and other legal documentation.

What you will need to have:

• JD from an accredited law school, and licensed to practice, with the ability to become licensed as in-house counsel to practice in the state where your Fiserv office is located.
• In good standing with the State Bar with no disciplinary record.
• 4+ years of experience as a transactional lawyer.
• 4+ years of demonstrated ability to draft, analyze, and negotiate complex contracts.
• 4+ years of demonstrated negotiation skills and the confidence to effectively manage and interact with driven sales professionals.

What would be great to have:

• Experience interacting with senior management.
• 4+ years of experience in exposure to merchant acquiring, financial services, and technology contracts.

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
