Construction Litigation Attorney (Insurance Defense) – 5+ Years

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid Flexibility)
Compensation: $150,000 – $230,000 + Bonus + Full Benefits

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Construction Litigation Attorney (5+ years) to join a busy and growing insurance defense practice in Houston. This role focuses on representing general contractors, subcontractors, developers, and insurers in complex construction defect and injury matters.

This is a strong opportunity for an attorney ready to take ownership of cases, work directly with clients and carriers, and build toward a long-term leadership or partnership track.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a docket of construction-related insurance defense cases from inception through resolution
• Defend claims involving:
  • Construction defects
  • Bodily injury/property damage
  • Delay and cost overrun disputes
• Handle all phases of litigation, including:
  • Written discovery
  • Depositions (fact + expert)
  • Motion practice
  • Mediation and trial prep
• Interface directly with insurance carriers, adjusters, and insured clients
• Evaluate liability, damages, and coverage-related issues
• Collaborate with experts (engineers, contractors, etc.)

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school + active Texas bar license
• 5+ years of construction litigation and/or insurance defense experience
• Strong experience with:
  • Construction defect litigation
  • General liability defense
  • Carrier reporting and litigation guidelines
• Ability to independently manage a caseload
• Deposition and motion practice experience required; trial experience a plus
• Excellent writing, communication, and client management skills
