DriveWhip is a mobility provider in the Washington, DC area, with offices in multiple cities, including Atlanta, that Leases/Rents vehicles to Uber, Lyft and other On-Demand or Rideshare drivers. As a ground floor member of an exciting new company all associates will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities. An appreciation for the pros and cons of start up culture is a must.

Position Summary:

The Rideshare Auto Litigation Claims Specialist manages high-exposure, rideshare-related auto liability and bodily injury claims with active or potential litigation. This role serves as the primary point of contact for outside counsel and drives strategy, negotiation, and resolution from intake through closure.

You will handle claims arising specifically from rideshare/TNC activity, including Uber/Lyft period disputes, coverage challenges, multi-party BI exposures, and high-severity third-party losses involving DriveWhip vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to the following):

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 35–50 litigated and high-severity auto liability/BI claims, with an emphasis on rideshare/TNC incidents.
  • Serve as lead liaison with outside counsel, directing litigation strategy, discovery, depositions, and settlement posture.
  • Independently evaluate and negotiate settlements on non-represented or lower-severity files.
  • Review pleadings, complaints, discovery responses, settlement demands, and legal correspondence for accuracy and alignment with claim strategy.
  • Lead liability evaluation for Uber/Lyft period identification, uninsured/underinsured motorist claims, multi-vehicle losses, and disputes involving member compliance with TNC requirements.
  • Establish, monitor, and adjust reserves based on legal exposure, medical treatment, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with state-specific litigation timelines, court scheduling orders, and internal standards.
  • Maintain detailed claim notes, litigation plans, coverage analysis, and communication logs within the claim system.
  • Identify, escalate, and strategize around files posing significant financial, reputational, or regulatory risk.
  • Support the broader claims team by assisting with complex liability determinations, BI evaluation, and demand reviews.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience handling complex auto liability and bodily injury claims, including litigation management.
  • Demonstrated experience handling PIP (Personal Injury Protection), MedPay, and UM/UIM claims—including coverage evaluation, PIP coordination of benefits, and UM/UIM exposure analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of multi-state auto liability statutes and coverage requirements (MD, VA, GA, FL, IL, PA).
  • Prior experience with rideshare/TNC claims (Uber/Lyft) strongly preferred, including period identification and TNC coverage interplay.
  • Proven ability to negotiate settlements, evaluate medical treatment, and collaborate effectively with outside counsel.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced negotiation and litigation strategy skills.
  • Ability to evaluate complex legal and medical documentation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with attorneys and internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to deadlines, compliance standards, and financial accuracy.
  • Proficiency with claims systems and collaboration tools (Google Suite, Slack, Zendesk, Textline). 

Work Environment:

Typical work environment includes desktop computing work using typical desktop computing equipment (laptop, keyboard, mouse, monitors, desk, chair) in an office environment and/or remote workspace environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit and use typical desktop computing workspace equipment - e.g. mouse, keyboard, monitor, phone - for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a typical desktop computing workstation.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, using virtual meeting and communication tools such as email, Google Meet, and Slack.

Salary: $70,000 - $85,000; depending on experience.
