RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Immigration Legal Assistant's main responsibility is to assist and support Adelante Mujeres' legal team, ensuring efficient case management and access to critical legal services for Latine women and families. Key tasks include drafting and filing legal documents, maintaining organized client files, and managing communications with clients and partners. This role involves participating in team meetings, case reviews, and occasionally supporting community education initiatives and training.
The ideal candidate is deeply committed to serving Oregon's Latine community with cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and a passion for justice. The Legal Assistant reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the legal team with drafting, reviewing, filing and mailing legal documents.
- Maintain organized and confidential client case files.
- Manage communications between clients, legal partners, and community stakeholders.
- Track case deadlines, court dates, and appointments.
- Participate in team meetings and case reviews.
- Assist with community education efforts, including preparing outreach materials and co-facilitating workshops.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements
- Education: High school diploma . Paralegal or Legal Assistant certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a law office, preferably in immigration law.
- Language: Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Canva (or similar design tools).
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage cases, deadlines, and files with precision.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in legal documentation, data entry, and client communications.
- Cultural Competency: Understanding of systemic barriers facing Latine communities (immigration, gender equity, justice access).
- Inclusivity: Experience working with diverse populations, including low-income individuals, immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, and people of color.
Preferred Qualifications
- Nonprofit or social services experience (work or volunteer).
- Familiarity with Oregon's legal and social service landscape.
Additional Requirements:
- Complete Criminal Background Registry enrollment letter for facility number CC503161
- Ability to work in person in Forest Grove, Oregon.
- Occasional travel out of town to attend workshops or trainings in the Pacific Northwest.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- Salary $24.20 - $25.90, depending on qualifications
- Classification: hourly full-time, typically 40 hours per week
- Benefits: health, vision, dental, short-term and long-term disability, 401K pension plan, life insurance, EAP, professional development opportunities, paid leave of absence, paid holidays (12.5 days annually), sick days (up to 9 days annually), vacation per year (up to 20 days years one through five, up to 25 days after five years), and sabbatical (1 month at 10 years of employment)
