Degan, Blanchard & Nash is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our team and play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and paralegals. Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage attorneys' calendars, scheduling appointments, deadlines, and court dates.
  • Assist with case management, document preparation, and legal research as needed.
  • Summarize cases and prepare detailed reports for attorneys.
  • Conduct research, investigate facts, and develop legal arguments.
  • Draft legal documents such as contracts, depositions, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Accurately enter billable time for attorneys into our timekeeping system.
  • Save and name documents appropriately in Worldox, ensuring all files are organized and easily accessible.
  • Transcribe dictation accurately and efficiently, ensuring all transcriptions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, including filing, data entry, and client communication.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed with a high level of accuracy and thoroughness.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in an insurance defense or litigation setting.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management software (e.g., Worldox). 
  • Experience with transcribing dictation, with a focus on accuracy and speed.
  • Exceptional ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of desk work, including sitting and computer usage. 
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds when required.
