Job Description

Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join our team. The right candidate has independently handled a broad range of commercial and civil matters in both state and federal court, is comfortable at every stage of litigation and arbitration, and brings a client-first mindset to their practice.

This position covers a litigation-focused practice with exposure to real estate matters, as well as business and construction disputes. Day-to-day work includes drafting pleadings and written discovery, taking and defending depositions, motion practice, mediations, and appeals. Trial experience is important - we expect candidates to have handled both jury and non-jury trials, private arbitrations, and evidentiary hearings, including temporary injunction proceedings, contempt motions, and challenges to expert qualifications.

Practice Areas

The core of this role sits in commercial litigation and arbitration, employment litigation, insurance litigation, and professional liability. Candidates should have direct experience handling disputes involving one or more of the following:

  • Breach of contract and fraud
  • Construction disputes
  • Negligent misrepresentation and business disparagement
  • Theft of trade secrets and non-competition agreement enforcement
  • Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act claims
  • Mechanics liens
  • Securities disputes and failed investment claims
  • Copyright infringement
  • Professional malpractice
  • Insurance coverage disputes

Real estate experience is a plus. Relevant work includes preparing and drafting documents for real property transactions, representing lenders in foreclosure proceedings, clearing title, and advising clients on title policies and commercial leases.

What We’re Looking For

  • Licensed to practice in Texas; federal court admission preferred.
  • Admission to the Florida Bar is a plus for this role.
  • Demonstrated trial and arbitration experience.
  • Experience managing international disputes is also considered a valuable asset for this role.
  • Ability to manage matters independently while keeping clients informed and aligned with their goals.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
  • A practical, solutions-oriented approach to client representation.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Our Culture

At FBFK, how we work matters as much as the work itself. Our culture is grounded in The FBFK Way - a set of guiding principles that shape how we serve clients, support each other, and carry ourselves as professionals.

A few things that define us:

  • We do what’s best for the client, even when it’s to our own short-term detriment. Client needs come first - full stop.
  • We take pride in our work and our environment. The standard we hold ourselves to is visible in everything, from the quality of a brief to the way we show up each day.
  • We choose a positive attitude. This is a demanding profession, and the energy each person brings into the room has a real impact on colleagues and clients alike.
  • We are transparent about expectations. From associate development to shareholder criteria, we believe people do their best work when they understand where they stand and where they’re headed.

We are looking for someone who does not just want to practice law here, but who wants to be part of building something. If that resonates, we’d like to hear from you.

Interested candidates should submit a resume and writing sample.
