Job Description

ATF is a law enforcement agency in the U.S. Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals/criminal organizations, illegal use/trafficking of firearms, illegal use/storage of explosives, acts of arson/bombings, acts of terrorism, and illegal diversion of alcohol/tobacco products. Duties This position is located under the Enforcement Programs and Services, located in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of analytical activities relating to the programs under the purview of EPS and assists senior analysts with portions of larger studies relating to Division/Branch programs. Typical duties may include:GS-09 Conducts analytical studies and convey findings to management orally, and in writing. Utilizes computer software for the manipulation of data, including its collection, analysis, and presentation. Collects, compiles, and reconciles large collection of data from a variety of sources. GS-11 Conducts analytical studies and convey findings to management orally, and in writing. Utilizes computer software for the manipulation of data, including its collection, analysis, and presentation. Collects, compiles, and reconciles large collection of data from a variety of sources. Conducts complex studies to extract information, identify operational needs and specific problems, make recommendations and develop solutions to problems identified. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses. Salary

Qualifications To qualify for a GS-09, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of a GS-07. GS-09 - Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized Experience is: Compiling and analyzing data; AND Communicating orally and in writing to management. OR Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. OR A combination of education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application. To qualify for a GS-11 (starting salary is $78,592.00) candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-09. GS-11- Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized Experience is: Compiling and analyzing data using software/databases (eg. Microsoft Office, Visio, Justice Talent Management System, Sunflower); AND Communicating orally and in writing to management; OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
