Job Description

The Assistant General Counsel, Store Operations, is part of the Legal Department’s Merchandise, Operations, and Supply Chain Law Group whose primary responsibility is providing legal support to the Dollar Tree Store Operations department. This position involves working closely with the Store Operations team to provide legal advice, training and business solutions for various operational issues, including regulatory compliance, governmental investigations and inquiries, and facility related issues. The position works daily with internal business partners, outside counsel, vendors, and governmental agencies on a wide variety of legal regulatory and operational issues.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1) Legal advisor for the company’s Store Operations Department for various matters, including:

   a) General legal advice

   b) Advisor on laws and regulations affecting Store Operations, including product evaluation and development and     compliance programs

   d) Advisor for various commercial disputes impacting the Store Operations team.

2) Legal advisor to the company’s Asset Protection Department.

4) Manage pricing investigations and inquiries by various governmental entities.

5) Assist in product recalls and withdrawals from a store operational perspective.

6) Train Store Operations team on various operational legal issues.

Position Requirements:

  • Office work environment, 40+ work hours per week
  • Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: Juris Doctorate
  • Experience: 7-10 years legal background. Bar membership in good standing with at least one state and eligible to be issued a Virginia Corporate Counsel Certificate, if not a member of the VA Bar. Retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel 20%

Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop applications, inclusive of Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Exposure to web-based applications including web forms, portals and workflow tools.
