Description

Litigation Paralegal, New Orleans, LA, – We are a mid-sized Firm searching for an exceptionally skilled Paralegal to join our team. Our paralegals play a pivotal role in helping attorneys build strong cases and provide effective defense for our clients. They are integral members of our legal team and contribute significantly to the success of defense litigation efforts.

Some key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain databases and indexes of case-related materials.
  • Assist in the management of case files, including organizing documents, maintaining calendars, and tracking deadlines.
  • Prepare and proofread correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
  • Attend and provide support during trial proceedings, such as document management and coordination as necessary.
  • Experience reviewing/requesting medical records, responding to/drafting discovery, deposition scheduling/summaries, and bates labeling.
Required Skills:
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to review documents to identify information responsive and relevant to the litigation with training and guidance.
  • Utilize legal software and databases for research and case management.
  • Ability to work well both independently & as part of a team.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and iManage.
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and processes.
  • Ability to electronically file (ECF) in state and federal courts and communicate with court personnel. 
  • Extensive experience with Relativity and/or eDiscovery platforms is preferred but not required.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, with a focus on defense litigation, is highly desirable.
  • Paralegal certification is a plus.
