
The Legal Assistant supports the hospital’s legal and risk management operations by providing administrative and clerical assistance to attorneys, Medical Staff, Clinical Excellence, and Patient Safety, as well as at-risk staff. This role ensures the timely, accurate, and confidential handling of legal documentation and case-related materials.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative support for legal and risk management functions, including potential claims notification to insurance carriers, scheduling meetings, depositions, and hearings. • Coordinate collection, review, and release of medical records and documents for attorneys, insurance carriers, or courts. • Review and process subpoenas, interrogatories, and legal correspondence. • Maintain organized case files, track deadlines, and prepare reports or summaries. • Communicate with court personnel, outside counsel, and internal staff to facilitate case activity.
• Associate degree or certificate in Legal Assistant/Paralegal Studies preferred; equivalent experience considered. • 2+ years’ experience as a legal assistant or in an administrative support role, ideally in healthcare or litigation. • Strong organizational and communication skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism
