Duties WHAT IS THE TAX EXEMPT/GOVERNMENT ENTITIES DIVISION? A description of the business units can be found at: https://www.jobs.irs.gov/about/who/business-divisions Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: Tax Exempt and Government Entities, Exempt Organizations and Government Entities, Indian Tribal Governments (ITG) The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. Receives and resolves ITG cases at an appropriate level of technical expertise. Confers with internal and external stakeholders to explain compliance, legal and other significant issues involved and the applicability of pertinent tax laws, regulations and related filing requirements. Explains corrective actions or adjustments and promotes future compliance. Participates in developing and administering internal and external educational programs including the development of educational materials and publications. Participates in taxpayer education and outreach programs to foster voluntary compliance with issues impacting Indian Tribal Governments. Participates with senior Technical Specialists to develop audit guidelines and to provide other forms of written and oral technical assistance to field specialists. Prepares technical responses at an appropriate level of expertise to inquiries submitted by members of Congress, Indian Tribal Governments, taxpayers, authorized representatives, government agencies and other external customers. Participates with senior Technical Specialists to provide assistance to agents and managers to develop national compliance check and examination initiatives. This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if the position has career progression to GS-11, then you may move from a GS-05 to a GS-11 in as little as three years. Salary- $59,966 - $117,400/year
