
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Family Law Paralegal performs legal support functions as outlined below. The Paralegal is responsible for supporting multiple attorneys in the Firm and is expected to have a high degree of responsibility for project management and implementation.
The paralegal frequently drafts discovery, reviews client files, prepares background memorandum’s and communicates with clients. The ideal candidate partners with Shareholders and Associates within the Firm to deliver efficient, responsive and creative results for our clients; is a nimble learner actively problem-solving, researching and growing; and has situational adaptability to prioritize and focus in a fast-pace environment. Additionally, they possess extreme attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills and team mindset.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Review incoming discovery from opposing counsel for deficiency and prepare supplemental requests, as needed
- Review, request and summarize criminal records and client files
- Prepare background memorandum’s on witnesses
- Organize and maintain case files, attorney notebooks, databases, spreadsheets and other materials
- Prepare witness and exhibit lists
- Interact and communication with clients
- Interact with other paralegals to assist with heavy workload or coverage
- Assist attorneys in preparation for trial by arranging preparing trial exhibits, coordinating experts and witnesses and preparing demonstrative exhibits
- Developing, responding or objecting to interrogatories or request to admit and summarizing interrogatories and admissions received
- Prepare and cull documents for production, expert review and depositions
- Coordinate and track project activities
- Perform other duties as requested

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- Associate degree in paralegal or legal studies or paralegal certificate and three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, work experience and training in a law office setting
- Paralegal certificate from ABA-approves program is preferred, but will consider experience
- Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in trial software
- Experience in insurance defense and bad faith preferred, but will consider experience
