The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws. Completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college; and typing skill of 50 words per minute.

What you’ll do:

The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking an experienced individual for a Administrative Professional 2 vacancy in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Section, Richfield Ohio office. This position will report to the Richfield location daily.  The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, known as BCI, is the state’s official crime lab serving the criminal justice community and protecting Ohio families. BCI also provides expert criminal investigative services to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies upon request. With offices throughout the state, BCI stands ready to respond 24/7 to local law enforcement agencies’ needs at no cost to the requesting agency.

Staff at BCI work every day to provide the highest level of service.  This includes special agents who are on call 24/7 to offer investigative assistance at crime scenes, knowledgeable scientists and forensic specialists using cutting-edge technology to process evidence to bring criminals to justice, and criminal intelligence analysts and identification specialists who help local law enforcement solve cases.  Experienced special agents, forensic scientists, and other law enforcement experts' staff BCI's three main divisions\: 1) Identifications 2) Investigations and 3) Laboratory. 

The duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following\: 

- Relieves supervisor of routine administrative duties

- Researches and analyzes materials, information and programs

- Makes recommendations regarding program activities

- Provides technical information and advice to administrators to aid in decision making

- Assists in developing new procedures related to established program policy

- Transcribes, formats and/or assists in formatting, typing and proofreading standard and/or technical correspondence and reports

- Processes bills for payment

- Purchases supplies and equipment

- Keeps fiscal and operational records

- Performs public relations duties and facilitates tours of the office

- Assists with background checks

- Works on special assignments and projects as directed

- Prepares reports, publications, and memos
