
As General Counsel you will set the tone for how we approach legal strategy, compliance, and risk management while partnering closely with leadership across research, operations and go-to-market. As the company’s first in-house lawyer, you will handle a broad range of legal matters while building the frameworks that will allow the legal function to scale.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuild Legal Function: Establish and manage all aspects of Reflection’s legal operations, from contracts to compliance to governance.
Commercial Agreements: Draft, review, and negotiate key agreements with customers, vendors, and strategic partners.
Corporate & Governance: Partner with leadership and the board on governance, fundraising, and corporate transactions.
Risk & Compliance: Design and implement compliance programs covering data privacy, IP, security, and emerging AI regulations.
Employment & People Support: Advise on employment law, policies, and workforce-related matters in partnership with People/HR.
Intellectual Property: Develop and implement strategies around patents, open source, licensing, and IP protection.
Outside Counsel: Manage relationships with external counsel to extend capacity in specialized areas.
JD degree and active license to practice law in New York.
10+ years of legal experience, ideally a mix of experience at a top law firm or in-house at high-growth startups or tech companies.
Broad knowledge across commercial, corporate, compliance, employment, and IP matters.
Demonstrated ability to build legal processes in scaling environments.
Pragmatic judgment and business-oriented mindset—balancing risk with company goals.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
Experience in AI, preferably with LLMs and the commercialization of AI.
