ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a paralegal to join FIT’s Legal Team at its headquarters in Austin, TX. Reporting to our Senior Counsel, the paralegal will provide support to the legal team on all matters including commercial contracts, intellectual property, corporate governance and litigation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of contracts including U.S. and global franchise-related contracts, including but not limited to new agreements, renewals, resales, transfers, defaults and terminations, as well as vendor contracts with oversight from counsel.
- Handle all pre-contract due diligence checks.
- Perform post-closing notifications and other tasks required to process completed contracts.
- Research and respond to inquiries from franchisees, internal parties and others about franchise-related contracts and vendor contracts.
- Track and assist counsel in the preparation of all required global franchise registration documents and yearly renewals.
- Collaborate with the Contracts Administrator to maintain and update all templates.
Requirements
- Certified paralegal (not state specific).
- 3-5 years of experience working in a global in-house legal department or well-established law firm.
- Experience in commercial contracts and franchising preferred.
- Possesses superior attention to detail in order to spot inconsistencies in contracts.
- Have previous experience in customer service and strong communication skills.
- Able to work productively independently and as part of a team.
- Have excellent analytical thinking skills and problem solving abilities.
- Should exhibit strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, to adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent.
- Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google’s G-Suite.
