As a Settlement Coordinator, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring that every transaction, from start to finish, runs without a hitch. Key Responsibilities of our Settlement Coordinator
- Assist with providing the applicable documentation and proof to the defendant to qualify under the terms of a settlement agreement;
- Assist with obtaining signed documents needed to qualify under the terms of a settlement agreement and for client claims to undergo requisite lien resolution;
- Confirm any information or documentation requested by the defendant or lien resolution company is provided;
- Review preliminary disbursement reports and confirm amount of the disbursement for each client is accurate;
- Manage and coordinate the distribution of settlement funds to clients and any other parties, such as a local counsel;
- Maintain detailed records of all disbursements and ensure they are properly documented in the firm’s database;
- Communicate the settlement and disbursement process with clients and provide updates as needed;
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, financial, and ethical standards during the settlement and disbursement process;
- Assist with creating and managing disbursement records; and
- Troubleshoot any issues related to the settlement and distribution of funds.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications of our Settlement Coordinator
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field (preferred but not required)
- Prior experience with coordinating settlements, particularly within a law firm
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Familiarity with settlement processes, client disbursements, and legal compliance
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex processes to clients
- Proficiency in using legal and accounting software to track and manage information related to a settlement agreement and disbursements
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
