As a Director of Hearings and Appeals, you will provide executive leadership over all legal, regulatory, and administrative operations of the Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA). Work involves establishing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and overseeing the quality and accuracy of all hearing related work. You will also be responsible for supervising hearing officers and clerical staff; managing workflow, resource allocation, and budget; as well as facilitating communications and actions between OHA staff, other Board employees, and outside parties for active or pending matters before the Board. In addition to leadership responsibilities, you may serve as a backup hearing officer and board clerk, conducting hearings, managing case filings, and preparing reports and recommendations for Board decisions. Additional responsibilities include:
- Conducting public input hearings for the renewal of operator licenses
- Supporting organizational integration
- Exercising independent judgement in decision-making, staff management, and operational oversight
- Traveling to participate in meetings and public forums
- Investigating complaints involving misconduct by employees and recommending corrective action when necessary
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited school of law, admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, current license to practice law in Pennsylvania, and at least eight years of professional legal experience which includes experience in the practice of Pennsylvania Administrative Law.
Post Employment Requirement:
- Continued license to practice law in Pennsylvania, with membership continuously maintained during employment.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred
- Experience as a hearing officer or practice experience participating as counsel in administrative law hearings in Pennsylvania
- Previous legal supervisory experience
Legal Requirements:
