Job Description

  

The Hartline Barger LLP Houston office is seeking confident and energetic paralegals to join our busy litigation team.  The ideal candidate must have the ability to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, be proactive, think creatively, and work independently.

Requirements

  

Responsibilities:

· Obtain, review and analyze documents, including medical records, financial records, tax and employment records, or any other relevant information.

· Proficiency with management of medical records including summaries and/or chronologies.

· Trial experience, including preparing pretrial documents, trial notebooks, exhibits, and witness files.

· Analyze and compile evidence and supporting information by searching records, discovery documents, transcripts, libraries, and databases.

· Manage files and documents.

· Draft basic pleadings and discovery requests and/or responses.

· Summarizing depositions and discovery responses.

· Coordinate with support services and clients, opposing law firms, and courts.

· Calendar and track all discovery and various other deadlines.

· Generate status reports, logs, and indexes.

· Confidently correspond with courts, clients and opposing law firms.

· Research and analysis of case issues, including medical research of facts, medical articles, and expert articles.

· Proficiency with communications with medical and technical experts including investigation and analysis of expert qualifications and experience; retaining experts, handling documents for review, and reporting by experts.

 

Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities:

· 5+ years’ experience in insurance defense litigation including personal injury, premises and product liability.

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.

· . 

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

· Strong analytical skills, as well as advanced oral and written communication skills are necessary.

· Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work in a high-volume office and team environment are essential.
